UPDATE - More proof that it's a bug: If you go into the View / Toolbar options and show the Formatting toolbar, it puts duplicate alignment controls up (duplicate because these controls are already in the ribbon). If you select the image, the alignment controls in the ribbon are greyed out, but the ones in the regular toolbar above aren't. And those let you center the image, even though it's inline with text. That is the real workaround.

Then go to 'Page Layout' and reduce the 'Spacing' 'After' to '0.' If you also have a space on the top of your text, you will need to reduce the 'Spacing' 'Before' to '0' as well.

I'm hoping someone may be able to give me an answer to this question, I'm finding it frustrating that I can't work it out for myself! I've inserted into Word 2011 (Insert>Photo). The image has been inserted and is left aligned as I would expect. On the Windows version of Word I would just click the image and click the Center button on the Home ribbon to move the image to the middle of the page. However on Word 2011 that option becomes greyed out and I cannot for the life of me work out how to do this very simple operation in Word 2011.

For those who are interested (and have updated Word 2011 to a version which fixes the bug where going fullscreen allows to center the image), you cannot modify the alignment of an image. Because it doesn't make sense in the first place to talk about alignment of elements that are in-line with the text (like a word).

Aligning text is a simple enough task. You just select the text and click the appropriate option: Align Text Left, Center, Align Text Right, or Justify.
After you in PowerPoint 2011, you can do basic edits like adding, deleting, or replacing existing text but if you want more control over how your text has been placed within the shape or a text box, you'll need to access text editing options within the Format Text dialog box: • your shape that already -- this technique also works with text boxes. As far as I know, it’s impossible to have horizontal text and vertical text on the same page of a Word document — at least not in a useful sense. You’ll need to have the table on a page by itself.

Opacity: Sets transparency level for the text box and the leader line. Fill Opacity: Sets transparency level (100 = opaque, 0 = completely transparent) for the fill color. Line Width: Sets the thickness of the line segment in points. If the Line Width is set to 0, it is effectively invisible. Style: Determines the pattern of the line segment. The Cloud style only affect the text box; the leader line will be solid. Any styles other than Cloud will affect both the text box and the leader line.
If Word text mis-aligns with one or more MathType equations within a line • Highlight the line, including both the text and the equation(s) • From the Format Menu, Select Font and click the Advanced Tab • Change the 'Position' drop-down menu to 'Normal'. Usually that fixes the problem • If it doesn't entirely fix the problem, try selecting each equation object by itself and repeat this step • If necessary select 'Lowered' rather than 'Normal' and try 3' or 6' or whatever makes it align A related problem is that double-spacing occurs after a line with one or more equations, yet toggling the normal single-space setting has no effect. Here is my fix for that problem. • Put the cursor on the first double-spaced line, or highlight all such lines (and sometimes even the prior line that has the equation) • Select Paragraph from the Format menu • If spacing 'Before' or 'After' has a non-zero setting, change it to 0.

To get this effect, take these steps: • Click into the text within a text box or shape. • Double-click the text, in this example Drink, to select it. • On the Ribbon, click the Format tab. In the Text Styles group, choose Effects→Transform. In the submenu’s Warp group click the Can Down effect. • Drag the purple diamond downward deep into the shape to squish the text so that it fits better on the cylinder.
We also want it centered in the box, and we can make all those changes on the Home Ribbon. So let's start off by selecting that text and making the changes here. We'll make it a 16-point font, we will also make italic and we will also change the line spacing to 1.5 and finally we will make it Centered.

I am creating a Word document on the fly as a C# VS 2010 Office Word project for a client who wants to be able to generate a document that will allow the appropriate number of signatory locations for a particular deal going down. There is a table that will need to be generated with sufficient rows and then later in the doc I have to produce prefab blocks for personal info per signatory. I am working on the table part now and have almost everything as I want it, but the text in all of the cells is vertically top aligned. I have visited EVERY site in the ENTIRE internet in the past few days for up-to-date information on Word automation that is current for.Net 4, VS 2010 and Office 2010. I have syntax that compiles w/o error but fails to bottom align as I desire. I have even stabbed about with IntelliSense to see if I could find another solution. This code focuses on a single row: tbl.Range.Rows[1].Cells.VerticalAlignment = Word.WdCellVerticalAlignment.wdCellAlignVerticalBottom; This runs but the text stays helium-filled.

Winnie Liang TechNet Community Support. John replied that Microsoft fixed the problem in Windows in an update. They have not fixed anything on the Mac side, Office 2011. (MathType doesn't work at all with Mac Office 2016.) Even so, I now only have the problem of mis-alignment intermittently and it only occurs in 'real time', no longer when I re-open a document. I have found some work-arounds that take only a few seconds.
