Microsoft Outlook For Mac 2011 Keeps Redownloading Deleted Messages

 admin

The biggest problem I have with Mac Outlook 2011 is that although I have the option set to 'LEAVE A COPY ON SERVER', periodically i will be working and all of a sudden Outlook will start downloading ALL MY EMAIL from my Comast mail server like it was doing it for the first time! Oct 03, 2011  Get help and troubleshooting advice on anything related to Mac software apps, from Apple, or third-party developers, like Adobe and Microsoft. Feb 02, 2012  Obviously Microsoft 'omitted' to add a function of exporting to.PST in Outlook 2011 for MAC therefor I was considering an option suggested by a forum article which is uploading data to a gmail account, since our user's exchange mailboxes are limited. When you start Outlook for Mac 2011, the application crashes or hangs. Resolution IMPORTANT The location of certain files are different if you have Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed.

Try a finder search: Search through Outlook files in Finder and start typing in contact information. If you can find files which are named with the extension.olk14Message you can simply change this extension to a.eml file and then open it with Outlook again. This is especially useful if you’re unable to find an e-mail within the Outlook program. Open up the file in outlook after changing the file extension and you should be able to access all of the data that was found in it.

So what would happen if I deleted the database? After quitting Outlook 2011 and the Database Daemon process, I deleted the database file and restarted Outlook 2011. The program popped a message saying that since I had restored from Time Machine, (amusingly, this message is hardcoded into Outlook 2011 based on the assumption that the only time you’re going to have all the individual files and no database is after a Time Machine restore), it was going to rebuild the database, which it did. The database is not only non-critical, it's much smaller; in my case, my Entourage Database is under 5.5GB, and my Outlook 2011 database is over 500MB. Not a bad reduction, and you can ignore it completely for backups. Time Machine support is a mixed bag.

I also have an Exchange Calendar with gobs of public folders (I live by my to-do lists), and I have three separate Directory Service accounts that I use as part of my work. The database Entourage's database was a big file that changed constantly, which made for painful backups. The big news in Outlook 2011 is that there is a new way of dealing with Outlook items, and each item is stored as an individual file or files—however, there’s still a database. Database: Outlook 2011 still uses a database, but Microsoft re-engineered the program so that the database isn't essential to storing data. Getupdate word for mac. According to the Outlook development team, the database is there purely to optimize search and other non-essential routines.

The only thing I have not done yet is to reinstall Outlook. This is driving me potty as I fix PC's normally and very rarely do i get stumped by something.

Let it trundle through downloading the zillions of messages already in the problem account, to the new duplicate account. Expect the Mac to freeze/colour wheel of death etc but just leave it be.

Specifically in one rebuilt of an already rererebuilt identity skipped over 2GB of files. As you well know each email creates an actual file in the Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Main Identity/Data Records/Messages/0T. I have been able to locate.olk14Message files containing email conversations that no longer exist in the rebuilt identity. How is this possible?

If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know. I want to double confirm which type are you used in your outlook client. How about the new one which configure the same account? And please confirm whether outlook always download only one e-mail or lots of e-mails. Please try to run outlook with safe mode to prevent virus and add-ins. Besides, please try to re-create a computer user profile for testing.

Additionally it is very hard for me to comprehend how can these emails be deleted from the Exchange Server (OWA) and from client at the same time. I do suspect that since the IOS5 upgrade of the iPhone this has started happening more often and may be why these emails are getting deleted from the server. In one case I was rebuilding an Identity for the user that has the 16GB identity and EVERY single time I would connect to Exchange it would reduce it to 8GB. At this point I thought of erasing all Exchange info from the end-users iphone, then rebuilding identity, sync Outlook 2011 client with Exchange, then resync iPhone with Exchange by redoing settings from scratch, and voila, this time the server kept all data.

I have a new Macbook Air running OS: Mac OS X Lion version: 10.7.2. I use MS Outlook for Mac 2011.

Hello, I am a Desktop Support Technician with extensive knowledge in Windows and MAC OS having built the image for both. Our company has roughly 1500 Windows Users and 15 MAC users. I have extensive knowledge in using Exchange Management Console & Shell and other Windows Server applications. We are using MAC OS X 10.6.8, with Office for MAC 2011 connected to MS Exchange 2010 SP1 rollup v5. Both MAC OS X and Office for MAC are up to date.

Once completed, this will remove ALL calendar items from your system and the next time a sync is performed, all items from the server will sync back and this should get rid of the repeating reminders.

Comcast re-added fine with no problem. GMAIL CAUSES A CRASH ON THE SEND AND RECEIVE. Delete Gmail and it works fine. Add again and crashed on Send and Receive. Very reproducible. ***** that I cannot use Gmail in Outlook. Glad you got it sorted in spite of not getting answers here.

Thanks and regards Shweta@G. Hi, According to your description, I understand that outlook always download same e-mails after remove the synchronization log from other computer client.

Now I have a more complete identity which I have put toghether by importing the user's last.OLM export. Of course we still lost a couple of days of email, but the identity continues to get corrupted and rebuilt every couple of days. What I am trying to do now is move the contents of this (roughly, now) 6GB.OLM to MS Outlook 2010 in windows, then export to PST, then scan the.PST using the SCANPST.exe utility. Obviously Microsoft 'omitted' to add a function of exporting to.PST in Outlook 2011 for MAC therefor I was considering an option suggested by a forum article which is uploading data to a gmail account, since our user's exchange mailboxes are limited.

The current version is 14.4.8. Use the auto-updater to get all the way to the latest version (it might take several run). Then, if the issue persists, it could be related to the servers themselves. By nature with POP accounts, the email client downloads all the emails, then sends a notification telling the server all the messages have been downloaded. Next time you connect, it only offers the new ones (or it should). Some servers have glitches that resets the label on the messages and re-tags them as new.

You are looking at a Microsoft Exchange Mailbox and you have an instance of Outlook running that has delivery set to a Personal Folders (.pst) file. Use one of the following methods to work around this behavior. Cause 1 To remove all filters, follow these steps: 1. In Outlook 2010, on the View menu, click View Setting. Click Filter.

All familiar stuff no doubt to people coming here. My wifes and sons email account, configured identically with godaddy, on my iMac etc, completely unaffected. Tried all the fixes in all the forums without avail - trouble is with MS, Apple and Godday involved its very simple for them to play slopey shoulders game - as they all did in spades. Little known fact is (at least on my outlook) top right there is a chat icon. This is NOT real time so expect a delay if you want support on Outlook, but after much too-ing and froing someone at MS suggested setting up another account/profile, identical to the problem account. Do NOT delete the problem account - you will briefly run two identical accounts in parallel.

Is microsoft silverlight for mac safe. You're not going to loose them in the process. Actually, I suspect that in the process, connecting through IMAP should reveal all the past emails that might not have been deleted from there and create duplicates (though the POP emails will be shown in the On My Computer section of Outlook whereas all the IMAP data will be displayed separately in the left side section under the IMAP account). When you connect through POP, you have two options: Download and make the emails as downloaded, but dont do anything else, or Download and delete from the server (some older servers with very limited spaced requested that sort of setting). This implies that depending on how your POP account was setup, old mails might or might not still be on the server. Deleting emails through IMAP is really simple: send them to the trash and empty the trash.
