These days we all live and work in a multi-device, multi-platform world, and so when building, one of our key objectives was to make it as easy as possible to transition from using Office for Windows to using Office for Mac and back again. That’s why you’ll notice an interface that’s consistent with what you’d expect when using Office 2016 for Windows, and why we added support for virtually all of the Windows Excel Ctrl keyboard shortcuts. So when it came to working with external data, we applied that same logic: how can we make the experience great and working cross platform easier than ever?

One part of this fluid new experience is the Formatting task pane. The new Formatting task pane is the single source for formatting—all of the different styling options are consolidated in one place. With this single task pane, you can modify not only charts, but also shapes and text in Excel! To use the Formatting task pane, on the ribbon under the Format tab, click the Format Pane button or press Cmd+1 while a chart element is selected.

The contact support I did talk to couldn't resolve it and sent me to 'Professional Support' who said I would have to pay for a Business 365 just so I could get 'Business Support' and they could hopefully fix my issue. Not sure what kind of lame support that is, but they recommend that I come on here to see if my question could get resolved. It was also the only free resolution they provided. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Add-Ins tab lists all the names, locations, and types of the add-ins to which you have access. • (Optional) In the Manage drop-down list box at the bottom, Excel Add-Ins is selected by default. Saving back to old binary formats (.xls) can cause feature compatibility problems. Never choose.xls. If you want the binary format use File > Save As > and chose Excel binary format.xlsb, which will allow all features and macros. I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. I realize that Excel 2011 for Mac did have userforms, so compared to that it is still lacking features. You can run userforms on the Excel 2016 for Mac. They will just have to be developed in either a Windows version or Excel 2011.

Hi Cupolone, Based on your description, you wanted to open *.cub file in MAC. First you need to know, Analysis Services is a built-in component of the Microsoft SQL Server software, and this applet uses files stored in the CUB format. Microsoft developed the CUB format as data files created and referenced by Analysis Services. And to open *.cub file OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) can be performed using the data in these CUB files. The PivotTable Service program is a component of the Microsoft SQL Server software, and it can be used to access the content of a CUB file. The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet application can also be used to open these CUB files for offline analysis, which means users of Microsoft Windows-based systems with Excel can open and save these CUB files as offline cubes.

Mark - January 9, 2018 Hi Jon, Thanks for your video above. I’m contemplating moving from PC to Mac, and trying (without much success) to understand how complete the VBA implementation is in Mac Office 2016. I recently tested an xlsm file I wrote in PC Excel 2007 on a friend’s Mac Office 2016, and it choked on trying to create a Word file from within Excel.

Thanks in advance! Hi Ross, As you mentioned, one specific worksheet only cannot be opened on your Mac, you can try options below. Change the file extension (e.g. Xls to xlsx). Note: Change a copy of that file. Let other user who can open that worksheet create a blank worksheet with Excel 2016 for Mac, copy and paste content from the specific worksheet to the blank worksheet. Send you the newly created worksheet.
