Should I whine to the Staples people that they need to add the desktop version? Secondly, I did notice that the pen was pretty unresponsive when I held the pen at a pretty shallow angle. It seems like something I could get used to, but it detracted from the otherwise natural-ish feel of the writing experience. Did any of you notice the same issue? And did it take getting used to for you, or was it just not an issue from the get-go?Units on display in stores have limited function: the primary drawback is these devices have not gotten the proper software updates. With updated N-trig drivers the Surface Pen is a different animal- more responsive, less pressure to write, etc. Also, full Office programs (including OneNote) would require the store to get a subscription, which they are unlikely to do.
It’ll be good from time to time to delete individual pages. IDG Mark up notes all you want, but keep an eye on that growing list of pages on the right. To deal with this clutter I’ve created a notebook called Archive. When I’m done with a section, I move it to this notebook (right-click on the section label).
You can also make subpages for meeting titles, dates etc. • Firstly, create a page with a proper description. • Add a New Project to the section and give it a title. Working mac address for stb emulator 2017. • Hover over the page title on the right side of the OneNote screen.
• If your computer has a touch screen, you can also. • To cancel drawing mode, press the Esc key on your keyboard, or click the Type button on the Draw tab.
Cons Small-screen limitations: Because OneNote offers so much functionality, the iPhone's small screen can make it hard to view some long and complex notes. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is the lack of provision to sort your papers within a section by date. This has been so for a LONG time and I’ve seen LOTS of complaints about it. Seems so basic, obvious and (to a non-programmer) easy that I just can’t understand why they have not added it. Wish too, that they would add more formatting features of Word. Oh - and for some odd - very frustrating - reason, whenever I print a page from OneNote it does NOT look exactly like it does on the screen. Margins are particularly maddening and print size is nearly always horribly large. I have to either cut and paste into Word, be content with large print and waste of ink/paper, or reduce the font size in OneNote (about 4 sizes making it difficult to read) and then print.
OneNote is the best Microsoft program you’re probably not using. For me, it's become the online home for much of my work: article drafts, interview transcripts, even random thoughts about how to re-organize the home office. I love that I can take it with me basically anywhere. OneNote is baked right into the company’s own, and there are apps for iOS, Android, MacOS, and support for Apple Watch and Android Wear. It’s not easy to build an app that serves so many different purposes and works well across platforms, but OneNote mostly pulls it off.
To stop erasing ink, click Eraser again. The Stroke eraser can remove an entire stroke of ink with a single tap or click.
My only critique and, in fact, what I need help with, is that I have frequent issues with my palms triggering the side panels and keyboard while I scribble away my notes in class, or practice my writing exercises. Holding my hand higher so my palm doesn't touch as much of the screen is an unsustainable option over time, as I'm essentially holding my hand in the air for a couple hours, and it feels totally unnatural.
I can only imagine how much more organized I would have been over the past two decades had this technology been available. Tonight I also used the SP3 to do something else that is new to me. When my associates give me drafts of letters, motions, etc., I prefer to edit with a pen on a hard copy.
2009 Capturx: A Digital Pen Solution for OneNote First there was a keyboard. Then came the mouse. Today ADAPX released their newest product, Capturx for Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 v2.0, a digital pen solution that records what you write on physical paper. With the benefit of an early sneak peek - I've had the opportunity to try out the device, integrate it into my workflow, and publish this in-depth review. As an avid OneNote user myself, the premise of being able to import anything & everything you write with a traditional pen & paper into OneNote got me really excited. It works like this.
All you have to do is to share your OneNote printer on the office network and others can print out your work on their own computers. • However, they must have the OneNote printer driver installed.
• Export your works into OneDrive, Facebook or even Flickr. • Then open up OneNote and import the drawings into the software from any of the above-mentioned sources. These are some of the best Microsoft OneNote tips and tricks that will help you to master the app. If you know any other best OneNote tips and tricks, do let us know in the comment section below and we will try to feature it.
Not as amazing as advertised, but pretty good. I would give this product 4 or maybe even 5 stars, except the brand new (1 month old) pen tip just broke on me for no obvious reason (no drops, extra hard pressure, etc.). Be warned that Microsoft support considers the pen tip breaking after one month to be 'normal wear', requiring the purchase of the $20 pen tip kit to get the pen working again. This is coming from someone who used a Wacom stylus for over 2 years and never had to replace the pen tip a single time.
OneNote can perform on images of text and can render webpages as snapshot images. Microsoft also announced a number of new features in OneNote that use the service API: • OneNote Clipper: A browser that uses the OneNote service API and enables users to save a screenshot of a webpage to OneNote along with the link.
Inserted files show up as icons on your page. Double-click any icon to open its file. Important: Inserted file attachments are just copies of the original files.
After a week of use, I will say that I have adjusted, and it's not enough of an issue to affect my willingness to use it, but it's a minor annoyance. WITH THOSE NITS OUT OF THE WAY.. I officially declare this method of note-taking to be 'awesome.' I've seen some of the Apple fanboys write off the stylus as a novelty, and I can definitively say that their conclusion is nothing more than wishful thinking by people who don't have a stylus. I don't have anything new to say, but here's the list of things that I have really become significant after a week of use: 1) Organization. At any given time, I have a few dozen legal pads in my office full of notes. And occasionally I find some in my trunk, in my home office, in my wife's car, etc.
A quick draw or scribble speaks a thousand words at the right time and can be invaluable to the user devices with large screen sizes such as the iPad Pro, Galaxy Tab S3 is ideal for such purposes. • In order to draw, click on the Draw Tab in the OneNote ribbon.
The real differentiator is inking. If you have a Microsoft Surface device, the pen can be used for handwriting notes, marking up documents, or adding a splash of color. If you’re a student, you may want to organize notebooks by your classes or projects. If you plan to use OneNote for light note-taking, you may be fine with one notebook if you break up your items into different sections. There’s a pretty useful search function that combs all your notes, but a good organizational strategy shouldn’t be overlooked. The trick is to keep track of all the clutter that can accumulate. For example, if you don’t delete pages you don’t need anymore they’ll run into a very long string.
Pressing Tab again adds another new column, and pressing Return at the end of a row adds a new row below it. • To modify a table or any of its parts, select the cells you want to format, and then do either of the following: • Click the Table tab that now appears on the ribbon, and then click the commands you want to apply to your cell selection.
It's awesome. I have a pretty nice collection of spendy pens at the office, but they're not going to get much use. For me, this revolutionizes note-taking. With OneNote, it's pretty simple: When I'm done with the meeting, I drag-and-drop the page to the relevant tab of the relevant notebook in OneNote on my OneDrive.

Take it to the job site in the pouring rain. All the while keeping it in your briefcase, your backpack, or even a pocket. I certainly don't take my laptop to every meeting. Nor would I be typing notes outside in the rain. Or squinting at a computer screen on a sunny day. The ADAPX digital pen enables you to go into conditions unfit for a laptop - yet with the comfort in knowing that the information you jot down is actively being digitally stored. And it lasts longer too - the pen will do up to 10 days of use with a single charge.
You can get your ideas down in a range of ways that include typing, inking, embedding videos, recording audio, or clipping web content. If you prefer to use paper and pen, you can even scan that content with OneNote to make it digital, searchable and available from your phone to your laptop.
Secure your notes with a password and use touch ID to quickly access them. THINK TOGETHER. Share your notes with your friends and colleagues, whether you're planning a party with others or a working on a school project with your classmates. You can combine forces and all work together at the same time in a shared notebook. ALWAYS WITH YOU.
Incredibly slick. It has the added advantage of the fact that I can edit in several colors easily, and I can erase and modify my edits. Also, I have a copy of the edited document in OneNote, so when I get the next draft, I still have my comments, and so does the associate. This is a total game-changer for me. It is also one of the reasons I've been so frustrated by many of the reviews, which have largely written off the stylus as a gimmick.

So I'm doing my assignments in OneNote, exporting to PDF, and submitting the PDF. Like the OP, my handwriting isn't good on the screen, and I agree with it being due to the slickness of the screen. I'm still waiting for the right screen protector to come out, as I don't like not having one, and I don't like glossy screens. I had a matte screen protector from Incipio on my SP2, and I'm hoping they come out with one for the SP3 soon. That will make a difference in how the pen feels on-screen, as well. This is why I'm ditching my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and migrating to the SP3. I'm in technical sales and spend all day everyday taking notes, marking up technical documents and currently have to convert notes into pdf then send them over to one note.
WARNING: this tool is highly addictive. Once you start using it, you won’t be able to stop. • Copy and paste formatted content: When using OneNote for project management, class research or travel planning, capturing content from other places into OneNote is essential. Whether it’s formatted text from a Word document, tables from Excel or webpages, you can easily capture rich content and place it in your notes so it looks the same as it did in Word, Excel or on the webpage. • Hyperlinks: Sometimes links can be long, unwieldy and aren’t always self-explanatory.

Tip: New pages are automatically added to the bottom of the page list in the current section. To change the order of your pages, drag any page name to a new position in the list. However, in OneNote, you can have as many sections as you want.

For each pen you customize, the original selection is replaced with the options that you specify.

Office 365 Personal costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. The annual price is the same as Evernote's Premium subscription, and the monthly price is less (Evernote charges $7.99 per month). An Office subscription gives you Office apps plus more storage space, but nothing else in the way of OneNote. An Premium subscription adds space, note-taking features, live chat support, and more. A few other note-taking and syncing apps are entirely free, including Google Keep and, but they pale in comparison to Evernote and OneNote's capabilities. OneNote is free with all features, the only restriction is storage. OneNote takes up space on OneDrive, so once you fill up your 5 gigabytes of free space Microsoft will nudge you toward paying for more storage space. The Mac importer isn’t portable, meaning you’ll have to install it using a PKG file. The importer can only import notes from the direct-download version of Evernote, meaning if you originally installed Evernote using the Mac App Store you’ll need to and log into Evernote before the import tool can work its magic.
