When working with JPEG files, the changes to colour, tone and sharpness are made ‘permanent’, but by shooting in RAW and opening the images in Digital Photo Professional (DPP), the look of the files can be edited. EOS Utility enables you to customise in-camera Picture Styles by clicking on the Shooting menu tab.

Hi Lynn-Kai, just how comfortable are you doing low-level FTP protocol debugging (easiest done using a network sniffer tool like wireshark)? The reason I'm asking is that the error #41 gives you absolutely no indication of what is going on. I found out about the dummy file by using a network sniffer and tracing the error messages from the FTP server. The other option is to put the ftp server into debug mode and look at the log files.

Both also have a variety of search options for finding images, allow re-naming of single images or batches of files, and offer a variety of options for printing without using a separate image-editing program. RAW files are processed using the Digital Photo Professional software. Picture Style Editor Version 1.5 is software that allows you to create custom Picture Style files. To create a Picture Style file, you will open up a RAW image then adjust the image characteristics based on one of the existing Picture Style settings (Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral or Faithful), except for the Monochrome setting.

Paste the cut content After selecting the target content, now we can choose “cut” options, then the selected content will be gone. Please move the selector to adjust selecting text range. Once you’ve selected the desired thumbnails you can choose to show only the selected images in the EOS Utility window. After you’ve refined your image import selection, click Download. A dialogue box will appear, enabling you set the destination folder and the file naming convention.

Click on the 'Menu' button on your camera. At the bottom, you should see a new menu entry Image transfer (LAN) settings. Select it, then select LAN Setting, then Set up. In the next menu, set the LAN setting number you want to configure, then select Load settings and OK. The settings file on the memory card will now be loaded into the WFT-Ex. Go back to Image transfer (LAN) settings and set the LAN type to Ethernet. Exit the menu and press the shutter release of the camera.

Click the DOWNLOAD button. You'll then be prompted to add the serial number, which you can find on the bottom of the camera or on the warranty card listed as the Body Number. Then save the file to a convenient location on your computer. The file you download is actually a zipped file. When it finishes downloading, you'll want to right click it and select the EXTRACT option. This will create another folder by the zipped file with the same name.

Solution: To make the connection working, I had to manually add TWO following FireWall entries in my Win 10 laptop. Go to: Control Panel / Windows Firewall / Advanced Settings / Inbound Rules / New Rule Rule1: General Name: Canon EOS UPNP Detector Programs and Services This Program:%ProgramFiles% (x86) Canon EOS Utility EOSUPNPSV.exe Protocols and Ports Protocol type: TCP (All Ports) Scope Remote IP Address: Local subnet Advanced Profiles: Domain, Private, Public (depends where you will be using the application) Rule2: Exactly the same including rule name, change only Protocol type: UDP Then I was able to successfully pair my 6D Mark II:o). Brian, Thanks for your write up – just got a 5D4 specifically to be able to tether wirelessly in studio. I have connected my camera to the EOS utility in both an iPad and a MacBook pro and am able to view images in thumbnail or via the quick preview but am having ONE issue – with the quick preview I am unable to shuttle through images – in other words I can only see the last image I took.

The white connect box remains empty. This happens in Easy setup and also in Select a Network connection methods. How to install cac card reader for mac. I am running Norton internet security and have tried disabling the smart firewall to no avail. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled all of the canon utilities for the mk iv from the Canon website. The camera will connect fine by USB if you go straight to the Eos Utility 3 program, but if the launcher is used, it will only try to connect wirelessly, and without success. I have also and previously used a 5d mk iii, but have updated all of the software for the mk iv.

I'm considering the purchase of the WFT-E4A for wirelessly controlling the camera in order to do a very long duration time-lapse series of RAW images. Have you any experience setting up the camera in tethered mode to do this? Is it even worth purchasing the wireless controller in that case? I am also concerned about any issues with a hot folder setup with Aperture. I'm a Photoshop user who is considering a switch (even though I just bough CS 4 Production Premium that includes Photoshop CS4 Extended).

You may need to update the firmware for certain models. For details, please refer to the support pages. WFT / EOS Utility cannot be wirelessly connected with Mac OS 10.5.6 and Mac OS 10.6.

I’ll reboot and see if this helps. Thanks again. Hi Brian, I am trying to connect my Eos 5d mk iv to my windows 10 PC and laptop by wifi using Eos utility. I can connect the computers to the camera wirelessly with no problem. The issue arises over pairing. The Eos utility does not find my camera when it goes into ‘pairing over wifi/lan’.

We performed these tests with the WFT-E3 mounted on an EOS 40D, although the EOS 50D should deliver the same results. At 1m from the Netgear router, the entire folder was transferred in 10 minutes and 54 seconds. Moving the camera outside to a distance of 16m increased the time by just under 50%, to 15 minutes and 11 seconds.
