The reason I'm asking is that the error #41 gives you absolutely no indication of what is going on. I found out about the dummy file by using a network sniffer and tracing the error messages from the FTP server. The other option is to put the ftp server into debug mode and look at the log files.

I'm considering the purchase of the WFT-E4A for wirelessly controlling the camera in order to do a very long duration time-lapse series of RAW images. Have you any experience setting up the camera in tethered mode to do this? Is it even worth purchasing the wireless controller in that case? I am also concerned about any issues with a hot folder setup with Aperture. I'm a Photoshop user who is considering a switch (even though I just bough CS 4 Production Premium that includes Photoshop CS4 Extended).

I can connect the computers to the camera wirelessly with no problem. The issue arises over pairing. The Eos utility does not find my camera when it goes into ‘pairing over wifi/lan’.

We performed these tests with the WFT-E3 mounted on an EOS 40D, although the EOS 50D should deliver the same results. At 1m from the Netgear router, the entire folder was transferred in 10 minutes and 54 seconds.
